Six ways to work in Roman
Roman tile and Roman pavers have flat surfaces with crisp edges, an eighth inch round over and a slight taper to the sides.
One inch tile goes on walls and floors. Two inch pavers go on floors, mortar set or sand set. The two share a shape set, so a wall, a floor and a terrace can run the same pattern at the thickness each one needs.
Hand cast in our Gardena facility from durable, fiber reinforced concrete, and available in all our concrete colors and textures.
Roman concrete colors generally look lighter than Artillo concrete colors.
One inch and two inch
Two thicknesses, one shape set
Both are flat surfaced with square edges and corners, an eighth inch round over and a slight taper to the sides. Both are made in the same shapes. What changes is how thick the piece is, and that decides where it can go and how it can be set.
The round over and the taper leave a quarter inch minimum grout joint. Coverage on both is figured at a half inch joint.
Roman tile
One inch
Mortar set, indoors and out, on walls, on floors, and under vehicles. The only one of the two that goes up a wall, so a kitchen floor and the wall above it can run the same shape.

Shapes and sizes
Thirty two shapes, both thicknesses
Squares from 3x3 up to 36x36. Rectangles from 4x8 up to 18x24. Two hexagons, three rounds, an octagon, and six patterns and cut shapes.
Every one of them is made as one inch tile and as two inch paver, and because the geometry is the same, the coverage is too. The exception is 4x24, which is made as tile only.
Coverage is pieces per square foot, figured at a half inch grout joint.

A Chevron Set is Chevron A and Chevron B together, both 12x24. Arabesque Pattern 8C is a 12x12 quatrefoil with a 14x14 cross, and its coverage is quoted per set. Each pattern takes both pieces. The two Durangos are the same profile at two sizes, so they share one drawing.

Concrete textures
Four textures, and a blend
Every Roman piece is made in all four, field tile, pavers, accessories, caps and coping alike.
Standard is what you get if you do not specify. The other three are asked for.
-
Standard
Varies from item to item and does not need to be specified. Some items may feature rough or textured surfaces already, while others may have a smooth, flat surface.
-
Luna
Our most distressed texture, inspired by the craters, seas, valleys, and other topographical features of the moon's surface for the ultimate expression of rustic elegance.
-
Limestone
An organic, weathered appearance that generally lightens the original color, a great option for pools and where extra slip resistance is desired.
-
Travertine
Adds a rustic, pitted surface to any ARTO color, used to complement other materials or create your own distinctive appearance.
Vintage
A blend of Limestone, Luna, Standard and Travertine, mixed to create looks that run from distressed terracotta to natural stone. It is a blend of the four, not a fifth texture.

California Pavers
Three shapes cast thicker than the tile on this page, for driveways and drives as well as terraces. A hexagon, a modular plank and Durango.

Concrete Wall Cladding
Roman 3D Impressions and three families beside it, made for walls rather than floors. Modelled and engraved faces in solid colors only.

Custom is the standard
Two pieces or ten thousand
We started as a custom shop and we still run that way. Send a chip. Bring a swatch. Show us what you're building. We develop custom colors, custom shapes, and custom color matches, and run a sample before any production commitment.
The material
Built to outlast the install
The craft is in the maker's hands. The performance is in the concrete body. ARTO publishes CSI 3-Part specifications and installation guides so architects and designers can specify with confidence.
-
The mix
Fiber-Reinforced Concrete
Hand cast in our Gardena facility from durable, fiber-reinforced concrete. Every piece is cast by hand, so the face and the thickness vary across a run.
-

Concrete Color Palette
Available in most of our concrete colors and textures. Thirty eight colors are stocked as samples. Some items may not be available in every color or texture.

Sampling
Always order a sample before you commit. What you see on a screen is not what your hand will know in the room. Samples ship from our Gardena facility.
Material truth
Rustic Elegance
Rough and refined at the same time. A handcrafted edge where no two pieces are exactly alike. A surface that ages with the room, in a palette of thirty eight colors.
It is not a marketing phrase. It is a material truth. Far from perfect, and that is the whole point.
