California Pavers

Three shapes, interlocking

An eight inch hexagon, a three by eighteen modular, and a six by eight Durango.

They are thicker than anything else in the Roman family. A Roman paver is two inches. These run two and a half, three and four inches, and the thickness changes with the shape rather than running the same across the series.

Hand cast in our Gardena facility from durable, fiber reinforced concrete, and available in all our concrete colors.

Individually handcrafted, not machine manufactured.

The series

Three profiles, three thicknesses

Two and a half, three and four inches. On this series the thickness is set by the shape.

Color and texture

Every color, every texture

California Pavers are made in the full concrete palette. 38 of them are stocked as samples. Order the ones you are considering and hold them against the ground they will sit on.

Four textures, and a blend

The texture is chosen with the color, and it changes how the color reads underfoot. Standard is what you get if you do not specify. The other three are asked for.

  • Standard texture on ARTO concrete

    Standard

Varies from item to item and does not need to be specified. Some items may feature rough or textured surfaces already, while others may have a smooth, flat surface.

  •
Luna texture on ARTO concrete

    Luna

Our most distressed texture, inspired by the craters, seas, valleys, and other topographical features of the moon's surface for the ultimate expression of rustic elegance.

  •
Limestone texture on ARTO concrete

    Limestone

An organic, weathered appearance that generally lightens the original color, a great option for pools and where extra slip resistance is desired.

  •
Travertine texture on ARTO concrete

    Travertine

Adds a rustic, pitted surface to any ARTO color, used to complement other materials or create your own distinctive appearance.

Vintage

A blend of Limestone, Luna, Standard and Travertine, mixed to create looks that run from distressed terracotta to natural stone. It is a blend of the four, not a fifth texture.

The material

Cast by hand, and cast thick

Handcrafted in Southern California from high strength, fiber reinforced concrete.

  • Hand Cast

Cast by hand in our Gardena facility, one piece at a time. The face varies across a run, which is the difference between these and a machine manufactured paver.

  • Color Through the Body

Color is cast through the body, not applied to the face. Available in the full concrete palette, in all four of our textures.

  • Locally Sourced

Made in Southern California with abundant and renewable locally sourced materials.

  • Custom Work

Custom colors, custom shapes and custom color matches are developed on request. We run a sample before any production commitment.

Applications

  • Floors
  • Outdoor
  • Pedestrian
  • Vehicular
  • Freeze / Thaw

Part of Roman

Three shapes, a larger family

California Pavers are a Roman product, cast heavier for the ground. The rest of the collection runs to more than thirty shapes in tile and paver, with stairtreads, bullnose, wall caps and coping to finish them.

Rustic Elegance is not a marketing phrase. It is a material truth. Far from perfect, and that is the whole point.
