The Story
In this Sierra Madre home, handcrafted Artillo Arabesque Pattern 2C in Cotto Gold runs from the entry hall through the kitchen and onto the stair landing. The star-and-cross pattern is laid in a warm terracotta tone with soft rose and brown shifts from tile to tile, and dark grout lines that outline each shape. In the kitchen it sits under wood cabinetry, stone counters and a patterned blue backsplash, giving the busy workspace a grounded, old-world floor. At the stairs, the 2C tile wraps the landing and step, with colorful hand-painted decos set into the risers. Close up, the cast concrete shows the small pits, clouding and hand-finished edges that make each piece slightly different.
